Plan Review Script - HSP

HSP Brochure & Accident Policy Sales Script and Presentation Guide

Training Script for American Ally Employees

Opening: Setting the Stage (0:00 - 0:56)

On page one, it says ‘Policy Underwritten By: Philadelphia American Life Insurance Company’ right at the top. That can throw folks off, and they might call Philadelphia American directly instead of us at American Ally. No biggie—we can redirect them back to you if you’ve already worked with them. But, you know, this happens sometimes in insurance—life, health, property and casualty—where people think skipping the agent saves money. So, you’ve spent all this time going over the info with them, and then they dial that Philadelphia American number up there, and there’s no way for us to send them back to you. Some other agent ends up closing the sale you worked for. I like to scroll past that part and cut that off at the top—here’s how I roll into the pitch with my customers—”let’s get started."

Introducing the Brochure (0:56 - 1:23)

"So, cool, this is gonna be the main health insurance brochure we’re looking at today—the Health Saver Plus Gold Edition. First thing you’ll notice on page one is we call it a fixed benefit health and income protection plan. Right? Now the reason we call it income protection is because any unused benefits get paid back to you as a policyholder when it comes to claims. But I will show you a couple examples as we go through here—okay?"

Plan Options & Key Features (1:23 - 3:29)

"Now, if we flip to page two, you’ll see we’ve got a bunch of plan options to pick from. No matter which one we go with, they all come with a $5 million lifetime maximum—check that out at the top right. So what that means is these plans are guaranteed renewable up to age 65; we’re not gonna drop you after a claim like some car insurance might. Now, first up, we’ve got your calendar year max benefit per person—options are $250,000, $500,000, or $1 million. The quote I built for you has $500,000. Why? Just in case—God forbid—you join in October, have a heart attack, then get hit with cancer later that year, we want plenty of coverage there for you. Next, we’ve got benefit levels: Gold Value, Gold Plus, or Gold Preferred—think of ‘em as one unit, two units, or three units. People always ask, ‘What’s a unit?’ I say, it’s more like a ‘bronze, silver, and gold tier.’ Gold Value’s our one-unit starter plan; Gold Preferred’s our three-unit top plan. Today, we’re looking at Gold Plus—two units—our most popular, and it’s what I’ve got for me and my family.

Lastly I always like to point out that your confinement deductible only kicks in if you’re hospitalized over 24 hours. So, if you’re in at 10 a.m. and out by 8 p.m., no deductible. Ours is $5,000—max of three per policy—but outpatient stuff like doctor visits, prescriptions, or cancer treatment? No deductible there."

Hospital Admission Benefit & Deductible Negotiation (3:29 - 5:26)

"So, if we look a bit further down on page two, you’ll see the deductibles laid out across the page. Find our $5,000 deductible—right here, we’ve got this Hospital Admission Benefit for your first inpatient day. What this is, is American Ally saying, ‘Hey, if you’re stuck in the hospital and hit that deductible, we’re giving you $2,000 to help out.’ So, it really feels more like a $3,000 deductible. Why not just call it $3,000? Well, you know, we hand you that $2,000 in cash instead, and that gives you some leverage. When the hospital bills you $5,000, you can say, ‘Look, I’ll give you $2,000 right now and we’re square,’ or ‘How about $25 a month till it’s done?’ More often than not, they’ll take it—collecting deductibles is a pain for them. Worst case, you’re only out $3,000 instead of the full five grand."

Hospital Confinement & Income Protection (5:26 - 7:12)

"Now with our benefits you’ll notice that everything’s broken down into different payable items. The first benefit here for ER confinement I say is like an all-inclusive resort. For Gold Plus, Hospital Confinement’s $3,000 a day; ICU’s $4,500 a day. The Kaiser Family Foundation’s 2024 data says the national average is $2,883 a day— less than what we pay. So, not only is your stay covered, but you’re potentially getting money back.

Outpatient Surgery & Cancer Treatment (7:12 - 10:31)

"Next—page four’s got outpatient surgery—think ambulatory centers for knee or shoulder fixes. Gold Plus pays $3,500 for the facility fee with general anesthesia, $1,500 for surgeries not requiring general anesthesia. 2024 averages say these run $3,100-$3,600, so you’re covered, and if it’s cheaper, you keep the extra. Then, cancer treatment—radiation, chemo, immunotherapy—we pay $1,500 a day. My dad’s prostate treatment cost $700 a day out of pocket; this would’ve covered it and paid him $800 back a day. That’s the fixed benefit health and income protection at work."

Real-Life Example: Gary’s Cancer Claim (10:31 - 12:35)

"Here’s a real one—picture this on a slide. Gary had stage 4 esophageal cancer. October 25th, radiation at Texas Oncology in Flower Mound—bill’s $545. With our First Health PPO discount from page six, it drops to $408.75. His Gold Preferred plan pays $2,250 that day—$408.75 to the provider, $1,841.25 back to Gary. Over 28 treatments, that’s nearly $60,000 in excess benefits. Care’s covered, plus cash in his pocket—that’s income protection. Does it make sense?"

Addressing Skepticism (12:35 - 15:21)

"If someone says, ‘That sounds too good to be true,’ here’s why American Ally can do it. One, no maternity or pre-existing conditions for 12 months—page seven. Two, medical underwriting—health questions filter out big risks; 9 out of 10 qualify, fits 8 out of 10 best. Three, healthier clients mean fewer claims, so we pass savings back with lower premiums and cash benefits—like a good driver discount for health insurance."

Professional Services & Outpatient Benefits (15:21 - 22:35)

"Let’s hit professional services—Surgical benefit on the 2 unit is two times Medicare— So as an example, let say a surgery is going to cost you $10,000, and Medicare pays $6,000, well since we’re paying two times we would pay $12,000—this means that your surgery is covered plus you’d get $2,000 back. The next benefit will be for your Assistant surgeon, and anesthesia—these two are usually billed a percentage on top of what the total bill is so with the $10,000 example and for the anesthesiologist we’d pay 20%, so $2,000 more covered. Outpatient doctor visits—20 a year at $120, no deductible or copay. My doc’s $95, so I make $25 a visit. Specialists—$150 for two, then after those two you can start using your doctor's visits that pay $120. Minor surgery—like mole removal—$200. MRIs, CT scans—$500 outpatient, double Medicare inpatient.

Accident Plan Add-On (29:55 - 32:00)

Now, the Enhanced 24 Hour Accident Expense Plan from American Ally. On this plan you will receive an additional $10,000 for ground and air ambulance. Also my favorite benefit is the $4,000 benefit that will cover instances like broken bones, car accidents, or anything related to an “accident”. My favorite example of this benefit is the story of my client when he went to flash fry a turkey on Thanksgiving without letting it dethaw. Well he ended up in the ER with 3rd degree burns on Thanksgiving and they kept him confined overnight so his deductible came into play, but since he had this accident portion he ended up walking out of the hospital without owing a dime. Also there is a Hospital income benefit $300/day up to 30 days confined in the hospital, also Accidental death benefit of  $100,000— and then down on the last page you’ll see some more gruesome benefits like loss of limbs and things like that. ($1,000 for a finger, $20,000 for both hands or feet.,)

Brochure Wrap-Up & Prescription Check (32:00 - 35:00)

"That’s the pitch—HSP’s your health and income protection, accident plan’s your safety net, all from American Ally. Now, what about prescriptions? Let’s check ‘em on GoodRx.com or ScriptCo.com—our services cut those costs. Say it’s [insert med], we’ll look at CVS or Walmart prices on GoodRx. ScriptCo might beat it with wholesale generics. What meds are you taking?"

Network Hospital & Doctor Lookup (35:00 - 37:00)

"Let’s check in-network hospitals—page six says First Health LBP Network. Go to firsthealthlbp.com/LocateProvider/CustomPage, enter your zip, and we’ll find who’s near. Or, give me your doctor or hospital—like Dr. Smith or Mercy Hospital—I’ll search their site directly. Who’s your doc or place?"

Closing (37:00+)

You’ve got HSP and accident coverage from American Ally, meds checked, providers found—"So when we're thinking about signing up?”
