Google Chat

Google Chat helps you connect with teammates in real-time—whether you’re asking a quick question, collaborating on a task, or celebrating a win.

Chat Types

1. Direct Messages (1:1 or small group chats)

  • Best for private questions, quick clarifications, or direct collaboration.

  • Click the “+” button next to “Chat” → Start chat → Enter the name(s) of your teammate(s).

  • Messages here are not visible to the rest of the organization.

Use direct messages when:

  • You need a quick answer from one person.

  • You’re coordinating something specific between just a few people.

  • The message is sensitive or not relevant to the group.

2. Spaces (Group & Team Channels)

  • Used for ongoing team discussions, updates, and shared progress.

  • Everyone in the space can see messages and contribute to threads.

  • Organized by topics using threads, so conversations stay clean and on-topic.

  • Our main Team Space is called "Sales Support"

Use spaces when:

  • Sharing updates that others might need to know.

  • Collaborating on shared projects or topics.

  • Posting wins, questions, and team-wide discussions.

🔹 Chat Etiquette

  • Use @mentions (e.g., @Nick) to notify someone specifically.

  • React to messages with emojis to acknowledge without cluttering the thread.

  • Keep it positive and professional; gifs and emojis are welcome, but avoid coarse or disparaging language.
